It seems like the proclaimed health benefits of CBD oil will never end.

Have some health related issues, anxiety or pain? I’m willing to bet that you have heard the argument that CBD oil can solve the issue.

We’re 100% pro hemp and cannabis in general, so we can’t deny the multiple health benefits of CBD. With this being said, we also can’t definitively tell you that if you take CBD you won’t experience any side effects.

Obviously, the potential side effects of CBD oil use are very mild, especially when compared to some of the more popular over the counter drugs available on the market. To say that it’s absolutely impossible to experience any adverse effects while using CBD oil and various other CBD products is a bit far fetched. After all, CBD is a dietary supplement and you should always consult a healthcare professional before changing anything related to your diet or holistic healthcare approach.

In this article, we will do an in-depth look at the potential side effects of cbd oil and leave the verdict open-ended for you to decide whats really best you. We will also explain how exactly CBD works in your body and attempt to debunk some of the most common myths and misbeliefs about cannabis and CBD oil.

Common Misbeliefs About CBD Oil

The misbeliefs we go over below are about CBD and its common association with THC and cannabis, primarily their psychoactive natures and their effects on our brains. It’s important to set the facts straight.

Misbelief #1: All CBD Oils Are the Same

This is definitely not true — there is a ton of different factors to account for when determining how CBD oils are different from each other.

The major differences between CBD oils include:

1. CBD Oil Derived From Organic Hemp vs. Non-Organic Hemp

Organic hemp is always less likely to contain heavy metals, pesticides and contaminants. This is super important because these contaminants left unaddressed can potentially lead to unwanted side-effects. This is the primary reason all of our products are sourced from sustainably grown and certified KIND crops.

2. CBD Oils Made From Isolate vs. Full-Spectrum vs. Broad-Spectrum

CBD isolate is a crystal that generally has above a 99.8% CBD concentration. Because of its purity, isolate completely lacks the other naturally-occurring cannabinoids like CBG, CBN, or THC, which all play a major role in providing the much sought after “entourage effect”. This kind of CBD extract is very often associated with less effectiveness and fewer side-effects.

Full Spectrum CBD oil has many different consistencies and colors. We have seen some full spec oil look very dark with a green slime like look and feel. The COA (Certificate Of Analysis) on this stuff always falls in the 30% to 50% range for CBD concentration. While we do primarily make all of our products out of Full Spectrum CBD Oil, honestly, this green quality of oil is not something that we carry nor use as an active ingredient in any of our products, even though some companies do seem to get away with it. Its not because this type of CBD oil isn’t sought after or effective, its because we take our product formulation to the next level by using CBD Distillate. CBD Distillate is a winterized and soventless CBD extract that can boast very high percentages of CBD and still maintain enough of the other cannabinoids to give the end user a sense of the entourage effect. Distillate also comes in different grades and qualities. The distillate we use is always above 90% CBD and is a solid at room temperature. To get the oil to flow, we have to heat the oil to at least 130 degrees Fahrenheit to get it to liquefy. Once liquefied,we can infuse it in our many  CBD products. The oil is an amazing almost clear light golden color and is considered the cream of the crop when it comes to ful spectrum CBD oil.

Last but not least is broad spectrum oil. When talking about broad spectrum cbd oil things can get a bit confusing because of the play on the word “broad”. When people talk about this type of oil they are generally talking about a full spectrum cbd oil that has zero THC, sometimes also called Zero THC Oil. While you can still experience greater entourage effects than with an isolate, removing that small amount of thc (less than .3%) really does seem to effect the end products potency and overall effectiveness profile. Some people prefer this oil because they are scared they will get drug tested and the THC will show up on the urinalysis. We’re not health professionals, but none of our products show up on a dug test. From our smokable hemp flower to our products infused with full spectrum oil.

3. CBD Oil Derived From Hemp vs. Marijuana

In order to qualify as hemp, there needs to be no more than 0.3% delta 9 THC in the plant on a dry weight bases. Anything above this threshold  is technically federally classified as marijuana, even though some states have bumped this number up to as high as 3%. CBD oils made from marijuana mostly contain THC in the end product, making their legal status questionable, and increasing the chances of receiving psychoactive side-effects.

4. CBD Oil With Other Ingredients Added vs. Pure CBD Oil

A lot of CBD oils contain other ingredients to alter their effects.  Changing a CBD formulation by adding things to it can have drastic effects on the potential side-effects. The main thing we add to out CBD oil is terpenes. By infusing all natural and organic terpenes, we are able to recreate some of the most sought after cannabis strains in existence minus the psychoactive high.

5. Different CBD Oil Strengths

You can find CBD oils in virtually any strength. Higher-strength options are stronger in their effects, but also tend to produce more side-effects.

Misbelief #2: Hemp Derived CBD Oil Can Make You Feel High

Nothing in life is impossible. It’s highly unlikely that, if you’ve bought a lab-tested and department of agriculture certified CBD oil product made from industrial hemp,  that you’ll end up stoned. Maybe you’ll feel super chilled and relaxed, but definitely not high.

CBD is non-psychoactive, meaning it won’t get you high.

The best way to avoid the side-effects of CBD oil is to always know who you’re purchasing from and their overall credibility.

If they are able to show legitimate third-party lab testing results for the products they offer that come in under 0.3% delta 9 THC, then basically, you have nothing to worry about.

Misbelief #3: You Can Get Addicted to CBD Oil

We laugh when we hear this. The answer is “no you can’t”.

Addiction is widely considered to be the worst type of side-effect. Addiction is a problem usually faced by the use of heavy prescription drugs like Oxycontin, Promethazine or Xanax. Which are all extremely harsh on your mind and body.

Addictive substances increase the release of dopamine in the brain’s pleasure receptors and over time, the user becomes dependent on the substance. This causes withdrawal symptoms whenever you stop taking the substance.

CBD doesn’t fit the scientific definition of a drug in a sense that it doesn’t attach to a specific receptor (or set of receptors) in the brain to trigger the release of dopamine.

Instead, CBD actually works to stop  addiction and withdraw symptoms associated with addiction by balancing the levels of neurotransmitters in the brain.

What Does CBD Really Feel Like?

In order to understand how CBD potentially affects us, we need to completely understand the Endocannabinoid System .

The endocannabinoid system is a complex network of receptors and neurotransmitters spread throughout the body. Endocannabinoids are naturally produced hormone-like compounds, produced by our bodies, that  interact with this system. The phytocannabinoids (phyto- meaning “from plants”) closely resemble our own endocannabinoids — allowing them to interact with our endocannabinoid system very well.

The ECS is responsible for controlling the majority of biological processes in the body and brain, such as memory, cognitive functioning, pain perception, mood, temperature control, immune response, and more.

However, the main reason humans have an endocannabinoids system is to maintain the chemical balance in the body known as homeostasis.

CBD definitely has a physical effect on the body and brain. After you consume this cannabinoid, it binds with the ECS receptors of the endocannabinoid system, begins to interact with the central and peripheral nervous systems, and ultimately produces medicinally valuable benefits all without any psychoactive effects.

In addition, CBD also interacts with over 60 different molecular pathways. It can also indirectly block the activity of the ECS receptors in the brain, where THC binds and induce its high. This means that THC can potentially becomes less potent when CBD is available in larger quantities.

What Are the Side Effects of CBD Oil?

Studies indicate that CBD is way safer than most popular OTC and prescription drugs.

Even the World Health Organization stated that cannabidiol (CBD) is an effective and safe to use dietary substance.

At Miami Rave, we are determined to give you a full understanding of what you’re ingesting into your body.

Here are some possible adverse reactions you could have with CBD usage.

A. Dry Mouth

Dry mouth is a common side effect of not only THC oil, but CBD oil as well. Dry Mouth is the most typical side effect amongst all cannabis products, whether derived from hemp or marijuana.

Cannabinoids, for one reason or another, seem to inhibit production of saliva.

If you think about it, you can easily deal with this side effect by consuming plenty of fluids before, during, and after you use CBD oil. This can easily be turned into a good thing because then you are in inadvertently preventing your body from experiencing dehydration.

2. Lower Blood Pressure

Higher doses of CBD oil have been shown to cause a small drop in blood pressure.

This may be a issue for people taking certain medication for high blood pressure. But generally speaking, the goal is to have a lower blood pressure anyways. If you have issues with low blood pressure then the potential complications could be even more by keeping your pressure low.

, CBD is can be stimulating, improve focus, and product an uplifting effect on your mood and demeanor.

Higher doses, on the other hand, can often times induce drowsiness and make you feel somewhat lethargic.

Dosages of about 250 mg of CBD ( that is about a quarter of a gram ) per session will begin to produce sedative effects. High levels of cannabidiol will definitely affect you. It’s important not to operate heavy machinery or drive a vehicle duration the initial stages of sedation.

4. Diarrhea

This reaction is likely caused by the other ingredients in your CBD oil, especially since CBD has strong gastro-protective qualities that ease stomach pains.

When the cannabinoid indirectly stimulates the ECS in the digestive tract, it decreases the levels of gastric acid and improves blood flow in your stomach lining to speed up the regeneration processes.

However, CBD is usually infused in a carrier oil, which could be the source of your problems. MCT oil (derived from coconuts) can absolutely cause gestational issues with people If you experience any of the above symptoms, you’ll probably want to consult with your doctor before continuing to consume CBD products.

3. Lightheadedness

CBD affects everyone differently. There are many factors that come into play, such as gender, lifestyle, body chemistry, and CBD potency and the dosage.

At lower dosesthat are allergic to coconuts or nuts in general. Its important to read the lable on your CBD products to make sure there are no ingredients that you’re allergic to or may have an adverse reaction with.

5. Negative Interactions With Other Medications

Your liver’s cytochrome P-450 system is responsible for metabolizing drugs.

High dosages of CBD can inhibit the P-450 system’s ability to process certain drugs, which can lead to higher levels of these substances in your body at one time.

Inadvertently, this can cause a lot of potential side effects, and sometimes, even an overdose on those drugs.

I know what you’re thinking.

Can You Overdose on CBD Oil?

Nobody has ever overdosed on THC and its a psychoactive compound. CBD and other all other cannabinoids found in both the hemp and cannabis sativa plants are non-toxic, non-lethal, and have no fatal overdose cases ever reported.

With this being said, its also impossible to overdose on any CBD extracts or CBD oils. Independent studies have hinted that high dosages of over 5,000 mg of CBD oil a day is well tolerated by the human body. We personally know some people who have tried over 20,000 MG of CBD oil in one sitting and are perfectly fine and would do it again if given the chance to.

There is tons of strong evidence, both studies and anecdotal,  that support CBD as a completely safe substance with potentially very minor side effects.

The Dangers of Buying CBD Oil

There is no doubt an abundance of poor-quality CBD oil manufactured by shady people who want to simply cash out on the emerging CBD market.

For many customers, and suppliers alike, it’s pretty challenging getting your hands on some really high quality CBD oil , even after being in the business for years. Most people don’t even know that CBD in its purest form is a crystal (isolate) and that really really high quality CBD oil is a solid at room temperature.

The main danger of buying CBD oil from a sketchy source is that they potentially process and resell poor quality hemp.

Hemp is a weed. Hemp naturally absorbs chemicals from the dirt around it and turns those nutrients into food via the process of photosynthesis. When grown in polluted soil, hemp can significantly loses its high quality due to contamination by mercury and other heavy metals.

To make it worse, these companies often cut corners by using potentially poisonous pesticides, herbicides, and chemical fertilizers during cultivation. All of these chemicals sprayed on the plants will undoubtedly end up in the final product.

Another thing to look out for is toxic solvent residue. Solvents such as methane, propane, and ethanol are all used to strip the hemp plant of its resin glands to create CBD oil. If these solvents are not completely removed from the final product, the remaining residue in the oil can prove to potentially be lethal.

Final Thoughts on the Side Effects of CBD Oil

Scientists have concluded that CBD oil is absolutely safe for human consumption and is sometimes actually recommended by healthcare professionals.  When it boils down to it, CBD comes with only a few minor side effects, if any at all.

While cannabinoids affect everyone differently, it seems that the majority of CBD users consume CBD oil and various other CBD products without any adverse reactions at all .

We always stress the importance of buying CBD products from a certified source.
